How to Crochet an Apple

Over the last couple of days ive seemed to have no motivation to do any of the projects ive had planned which has been very frustrating.

My mum was working on her latest projects when she mentioned that she wanted to crochet some fruit to sew onto her project, suddenly I was inspired to attempt to make an apple for her.

After looking for some patterns, most of them were either just a circle or were a 3D apple which isn't what she wanted, so I decided to make my own design, this is what I came up with:

The whole thing takes under 10 minutes and its very easy to do :)

How to crochet an apple

Start off with a magic loop and chain 2,

Rnd 1: Do 14 Double crochets (dc) in the magic loop, pull the loop tight, join with the first chain with a slip stitch (sl st) and chain 2 (14)

Rnd 2: Do 2 dc in each dc all the way around, join with first ch, do not chain (28)

Rnd 3: Do 2 dc in the next 10 dc, 1 half double crochet (hdc) in the next dc, slip stitch into the next dc, 1 hdc in the next 2 dc, slip stitch in the next dc, 1 hdc in the next dc, 2 dc in each of the next 10 dc, slip stitch into the next dc.

Finish off and weave in ends.

The Stem

Chain 9, single crochet into the second chain from the hook, single crochet to the end of the row,
Finish off, leave a bit of a long tail for sewing.

The Leaf

Chain 8,

Row 1: Single crochet (sc) in second chain from hook, half Double crochet (hdc) in the next chain, double crochet (dc) in the next chain, Treble crochet (tr) in the next chain, dc in the next chain, hdc in the next chain, sc in the last chain.

Finish off, leaving a tail for sewing

Now sew the whole thing together, attach the leaf to the stem, attach the stem where the dip is at the top of the apple, weave in all ends.

One completed Apple :)

This is what the apple looks like when sewn onto a flat surface (its a little flat at the bottom as my mum didn't know there was meant to be a little dip!)
